Somehow I missed that this digital microscope workstation was battery powered. I honestly thought it was a plug in. If it was a plug in device, it would be five stars. The camera sensor, optics, display panel, and mounting arm, are all rock-solid and do a great job. The only weakness is in the quality of the materials used for the workstation tray. Due to the strengths of the other areas, and the reasonable price, I won’t deduct a star for the flimsiness of the tray. It functions well enough, though I have been treating the whole unit with gentle care. I have an old slide projector case that fits this folded-up workstation very well, and the fact that it runs off of battery puts it over the top. Now, using my repurposed case, I can take this out to trade shows or even in the field. The battery is charged with any 5V/2A charger, which includes all of my power-brick batteries for charging mobile devices. This would make an excellent device for extended field studies. The lens is interesting, they call it a parfocal lens, and it keeps the focus regardless of the magnification. I found it work surprisingly well, for the sub $200 price point on this microscope. Plugging this into a computer will give you up to 4K still image resolution, in near real time, but using it as a video device, will only ever give you an HD image, or 1080P. You can save both video and images to the microSD card. The workstation has a pad of heat resistant material, and while I prefer using wooden butcher block as my work surface, this workstation will do in a pinch. A really nice feature is the remote control. It is true that the mounting arm is steady, and touching it lightly to work the controls doesn’t make it vibrate much, when you are really zoomed in on high magnification, a little vibration can put you off the subject matter. When you use the remote control, you don’t have to touch the control panel, and thereby you won’t vibrate the microscope with your touch. So many nice features, well executed, makes this an easy five star device.Five Star Battery Powered Portable Digital Microscope Workstation

everything on this is amazing, there’s just a few things that i overlooked because i was so interested in the features and extras.1. at the furthest away zoom you cant even see half of a coin.2. there are no settings to adjust for your photo quality, ex. ios, exposure, white balance, ect. which is very unfortunate. do you guys have a model that meets these specs?

I’ve used this digital soldering station microscope about six times so far and so happy with it! The first struggle I used to have was soldering the wires on RGB light strips. I would try to use my phone’s camera and flashlight to see if I bridged any solder across the contacts then spend three times longer trying to fix it.With this microscope, I was able to easily see where the solder pads were and attached my tinned wires instantly! I have also used it for other projects like soldering on a new USB-A port on my synthesizer’s mainboard. Another non-soldering huge benefit is I could also straighten out CPU pins on my motherboard that I originally gave up on fixing! Again, I only had my phone to take detailed photos of and having something “live” that I could fix the bent pins helped save a $250 mainboard! One of the nice features of this station is the unit has a battery – so you can charge it and just grab and go with it anywhere! The ring light works well and found it best to keep it at low brightness as the camera has a pretty good lens to work in low light without blowing out the highlights of what you’re working on.One thing to note is it is a microscope – so the zoom will be very tight and limited in some respects. In one of my photos you can see the wider zoom showing the four pins on a USB connector, the other is the tight zoom showing the “20” of year on a dime!Glad I have this unit and would recommend it!
