Great to have spare take-up reels. They are not stellar reels, but they’ll do. Back in the 70’s when I spent every day for two years with a Teac A-3340S I used Maxell Tape reels that had the easiest threading ever – A slot on the side of the reel, extending into the center hub so you just slip the leader through that and out the middle of the hub where you just hold on to it for a couple turns and you’re done. These have that awkward business of trying to hold the tape against the hub without it slipping away on you – maybe there’s a technique – I never have figured it out. The reel walls are also not as good as the Maxell reels I STILL have from the 70’s – they are more wobbly – but not unusable. They’re OK and I will be making use of these.
