I initially bought some GP3 just because of the price. I didn’t have high expectations, especially after not being able to find any well-made reviews on the film itself, but for the price I wasn’t too concerned. Well, it turns out I love this film. It has a good contrast to it straight out of the development tank, and while there is a fair amount of grain it isn’t overly harsh or too present. It adds to the aesthetic more than making it look grungy.The biggest downside to this film isn’t actually with the film itself, but the lack of resources available on it. After some digging I managed to find one chart on reciprocity for long exposures, but it turns out it’s off by about a full stop under past a few seconds metered time. The development charts are easy enough to come by (and each box has dev times for the three most popular developing chemicals) but there’s nothing I could find of how the film turns out with different developers. That wasn’t too big of a deal, but it was a little frustrating to try and research a film and not find much of anything about it.The shots I attached were all taken at box speed (apart from the night shot, that was metered for 30sec, shot as if metered for 1min – the correctly metered exposure was way too dark). I added a touch of contrast when scanning, then sharpened the shots afterward, but that’s about all I did to any of these (the shot of the shrine I did a touch of dodging/burning as well).
