   This is a very compact and versatile headphone amplifier. When I first tried it I plugged the USB cable into my computer to supply power. This was a mistake. The headphone sound was distorted with a lot of artifact. Next I tried the AC adapter into a wall outlet and was pleasantly surprised by the crystal clear sound. The amplifier section provided plenty of volume, probably more than you would ever need.There are multiple features that make this unit extremely versatile. To start with you have three separate potential input sources. One is a 3.5 mm stereo mini jack that is often used with audio sources like phones or portable CD players. Next you have a 6.35 mm, or standard sized TRS input often used with professional gear. Finally you have two, left and right, AV (RCA) inputs. The great thing is that you can use all three input sources at the same time if you want and each has its own mute button. There is also a stereo / mono switch that is very handy depending on your source material.There are four sets of headphone outputs. Each channel has both a 3.5 mm mini stereo output jack as well as a standard 6.35 mm headphone output jack. The great thing is that you can use all eight outputs, or any combination, at the same time; although, each set of headphones will have the same sound source and each volume control affects both a 3.5 mm and 6.35 mm output.I could see plenty of potential uses for this device. In a recording situation or even for rehearsal you could have up to eight band members supplied with the same main mix just from this one device. It could also be used as a personal in-ear monitor mixer. You could have your instrument in one input with the main mix in another input. Then you could dial in the right blend with the volume controls. You could even use this for personal practice with your instrument in one input and a separate audio source playing jam tracks in another.The build quality seems excellent and in no way does this feel like a cheap toy. The case is solid metal and the volume controls are very smooth. As I mentioned the sound is great. At this price point it’s a pretty amazing little amp / mixer. The AC cable is short at three feet so you may need an extension cord. Just don’t make the mistake that I did and be sure you plug this into a regular AC outlet. Overall I’m extremely impressed with this device as well as the manufacturer.
