What I like:- Clear percision bass and lots of it.- Extremely clear highs and mids. Highs are extremely bright and crisp.- Midrange/Vocals are very good but not great like the highs ( can’t have it all in a two-way )- Easy hookup speaker terminals- Super easy Installation and Install HardwareImprovement Opportunities:- What — no cut out template. I guess I make my own out of a cardboard box. NP- Finish on speaker grill was sprayed a little thick such that several holes in grill were filled in.( use a straight pin and poke it out )- The Instructions were missing or not included.- Packing was adequate. But box was too thin to make a cut-out from. Had to use inside divider. As you can see this speaker pair once installed is definitely a 5 star.Note: At first I was not very impressed with the sound and thought I would need to return these. Then I took off the grill to find a almost invisible plastic packing covering the whole inside of the grill. So take the grill off and remove the packing. This is where the instructions would be helpful. But I probably would have just skipped reading them any way. I may buy a couple more pairs of these.I will try to update the review in 60-90 days and see what happens when the woofer loosens up a bit.

If you are looking for ceiling speakers that produce sound cleanly and fully at a good price, these should be considered. I like to hear the full frequency spectrum when listening to music. Clear highs, sharp lows and warm mid-tones and these do the trick. Installation is very easy, they handle volume well and the look pretty good. I’ve been using them on our deck and whether I’m playing music or watching television..the sound is clear and rich. The only semi-negative comment I will make is about placement, particularly if you are installing them outside. They VERY directional with low frequencies. If you sit under them you get the full effect, move 6 feet away and there is a noticeable difference. Ceiling speakers are supposed to be used for ambient sound anyway but thought that detail would be useful to someone.

When it comes to audio, video, and electronics, I am very picky and tend to stick with top name brands. My home theater setup is very important to me because I and my family spend a lot of time watching movies. I currently have a 73″ Mitsubishi DLP that I bought new in 2008. (I plan on replacing it in the next year) I have a Pioneer VSX-822-K receiver (110 watts, 5.1, all HDMI, wireless networked for DLNA, etc.) powering the surround speakers. I was going to buy Polk Audio RC65i 2-Way In-Wall Speakers for the surround speakers, but after reading all the specs on these – which compare and sometimes exceed the Polk Audio, I decided to give them a try.I’m sure glad I did! These speakers take everything I can throw at them, and keep on trucking! The 6.5″ drivers in these are indeed made of Kevlar and are of extremely good quality. Even when I have my subwoofer off (NXG Technology NX-BAS-500 12″ sub), these deliver a good amount of bass! So much so, that at times, I’m not entirely sure that my subwoofer is off! (No joke!)The tweeters deliver crisp, clean highs with no distortion. The speakers look very nice installed in the ceiling of our living room and are barely noticeable. I have two pairs installed in the ceiling, the center channel, and the 12″ sub. All combined make for a fantastic 5.1 surround listening experience! I would highly recommend the Acoustic Audio HD-650 speakers to anyone! I’ve had them about one year now and they are still going strong.

I have these on the rear of my new 7.2 tv amp system. Putting 120watt to them, and they sound very good. They replaced two POLK audio of the same size that one failed from likely to many Watts.I am shocked how well these small 5 1/2 ” speakers are handling 120watts with no problem. Well we will see if they hold up for they are going to be used 2-3 hours a day at a good 80-85% level, for we have a work out area in our TV area and we like to watch our movies and TV shows loud while working out.And buy the ones with the YELLOW cone. They cost a few $ more, but so worth the few extra dollars. I returned a set of the back cone ones, for the specs looked good on paper, but I was not happy with them. We talking like 8$ more for the YELLOW cone pair you can feel the difference from speaker wieght and sound quality.NOTE: if you don’t want to see the Yellow cone you can leave the paint shield that comes with the speakers and fits inside the grill housing. My wood wall are stained “goldan Oak” so it matches my room.

I installed these in a wall. Installation was fairly easy. After using template to create hole I had to make it a little bigger to fit speaker. That is the only issue. The speakers sound great!
