   I have a friend who likes to send links to my phone of music performances that have these really long URLs. Listening to them on the phone’s speaker is terrible, typing the URLs back in on a computer is a pain and I don’t always have a pair of bluetooth headphones nearby to listen through.These connectors solve these problems by letting me plug in some studio phones, which is quick and easy. The one thing I’ve noticed however is that the volume control on the phone doesn’t work that well when phones are plugged in. I don’t know if that’s how all headphones connected in through the lightning port would work or if it’s just this connector lacking something. I can turn the sound down to a moderate level but it goes from there to completely off in the next step. On the other hand, the high end goes really loud, to a level I would never use. This happens whether I’m using the volume control on the phone or, if I wire into my Bose, the volume control on those. In contrast, if I hook up the Bose using bluetooth, the volume controls on both the phone and the Bose provide the ability to tweak the sound down to barely perceptible.As a result of this, I will probably use these connectors only for hooking up my phone to a mixer in my studio, where I have much better control over the volume. I’m not blaming this company’s connector for this, I suspect it’s a feature of the lightning port and/or protocol not providing good volume control, but it does reduce the utility of this connector for me, which I didn’t expect going in.
