3 reviews for ATT TL7800 DECT 6.0 Cordless Headset for ATT cordless telephones with Noise Canceling Microphone

The AT&T 7800 is a decent cordless headphone, and probably one of the best choices amongst what else is currently available. The sound quality is excellent; I’ve never had trouble understanding or hearing anyone, especially if I turn up the volume. The transmitted audio quality (of your voice for those to whom you are talking) also seems to be good, based on what people have told me. My only complaint about audio quality is that I often get a bit of a distorted buzz back in my ear when I speak loudly (which, apparently, is quite often!). To avoid this, I usually position the mike up away from my mouth. Also, I frequently walk outside wearing the headset, and there is no blocking of wind noise. The control layout on the headset is logical, and the buttons are all easy to work when you’re wearing the headset during a conversation. Also, the unit snaps securely into its base by a magnet, so you don’t have to worry about it not charging between calls. The biggest negative on the controls is that pressing the mute button causes a voice to say “mute is now on/off.” This blanks out 2-3 seconds of your incoming audio. What were they thinking?I’ve got the TL7800 paired with an AT&T TL86019 two line phone. If you use the off hook button on the headset, it will only allow you to call out on Line 1, but it will pick up incoming calls on both lines 1 & 2. However, you can transfer a call on line 2 to the headset (even if you’ve originated the call) by selecting the Option soft key on the TL86109 during the call, and then selecting Transfer Call to Headset. That little operational gem was buried near the end of the TL86019 manual, and I’d be amazed if most people ever find it.While a number of adapters and headbands are supplied with the product, none of them really give me a great fit. The unit is heavy, so I don’t think most people will wear it with one of the supplied ear clips; I think most people will use a headband. However, these are stiff, and don’t supply much adjustment range. All in all, the unit sits securely on my head, but usually requires a bit of adjustment before I can get it there relatively comfortably.Battery life on the TL7800 seems to be excellent, although I often set it back on the charging cradle during the day. Unfortunately, the battery is integrated into the plastic battery cover of the unit, so I doubt you can buy cheap, third party replacement batteries for the unit. AT&T (or really VTech) must be taking a cue from Apple on this one.The range of the headphone is pretty good. Maybe around 50 feet or so – certainly don’t believe the nonsense they tell you about 500 feet in the promotional literature. But, if you locate the base unit centrally in your house, you probably won’t get out of range very often. Many phones now feature Bluetooth functionality, but the range of Bluetooth is far less than DECT 6.0. This larger range remains the most compelling reason to still use a DECT 6.0 headset. All in all, I think it’s probably one of the better DECT 6.0 headsets out there, which may not really be saying much, since there aren’t many available, especially those that work with 2 line phones. It would be nice if AT&T made the differences between their various models (e.g. TL7600, TL7800, etc.) more obvious as an aid in selection during purchase.

The headset works great, however, if setting it up with the AT&T phone, you have to do some research as the instructions with the headset and phone don’t work. Overall, this is nice. Good sound quality and range. The only issue I have is when I’m using it with my cell phone, the range isn’t that great.Overall, I would recommend this to my friends and family.

We just upgraded our home phones to eliminate spam calls and added this headset as well. This was an excellent purchase. The headset comes with 3 over the ear mounts and 3 over the head mounts, so you have options for comfort while wearing. All mounts work with the charging base so you don’t have to remove them. Sound quality is superb and people on the other end report dramatic reductions in back ground noise. Setup with our main AT&T phone base could not have been easier and range while talking covers our entire property. This is a great add on for anyone with an AT&T phone system.
