I’m not sure why we didn’t think of buying one of these sooner. It’s very sturdy and holds 100 ft. of cord. It rolls easily and makes storing our extension cord compact.

I have a few of these for storing 10 gauge extension cords for my generator. Two 10/3 120v 5-15 cords, a 10/3 120v 5-20 cord, and a 10/4 240v L14-30 cord.### Capacity:When wrapped neatly, this reel will fit 100ft of 10/3 cord with very little room to spare. The longest 10/4 cord I have is 75ft, and the reel fits that with some room to spare, so 100ft of 10/4 *might* fit. Also worth noting that the 120v 5-15 and 5-20 ends on my cords *barely* squeeze through the hole that goes through the barrel of the reel into the center, but the 240v L14-30 ends definitely won’t fit through that hole. So to wrap that one, I had to use the notch in the rim of the reel to start spooling it.### Build quality:This is why this gets 4/5.- Like some other reviews mentioned, the reel has some runout (it wobbles). Of the four I have, one is pretty bad (lots of wobble), two are so-so, and one is fine (very little wobble). So it seems to be a QC issue. The brake can be dialed to the desired amount of friction only if you get one without much runout, but works fine to lock the reel for storage either way.- The welds on these look pretty rough, but functional.- The feet and handle slide onto the tubes and can rotate or slide off without much force. I fully expect to lose a foot or something over the years.- Somehow, every one I got had scratches and scuffs in the paint on the tube frame. The boxes were in good shape, so they must have been mishandled during assembly or something. I’ll probably have to touch them up to prevent them from rusting.- The handle on the rim of the reel doesn’t rotate, it’s just a fixed knob of smooth plastic. It’s fine, but it’d be nicer if it was allowed to rotate in the hand as you turn the reel.- The hole to the center and the notch in the rim where you might pass a cord through aren’t sharp, but they could use a rubber grommet or something. I’d expect the cord’s jacket to get chewed up over time if it gets spooled on and off the reel often.Other that that, they seem suitable for storing heavy (but rarely used) cords like mine, and make the occasional use of cords this heavy much nicer than trying to coil them on your forearm or whatever. However, if you’re constantly doing setup/teardown with these, the flaws will probably be more annoying to you.

I bought one to hold 300-feet of RG-6 SDI video cable. It fit fine, but any more would start to be too much. The little clips on the outside work great for holding 6-feet of cable coming from the inside (allowing 100-feet of cable to be used with another 200-feet remaining on the reel), while keeping the cable out of the way when winding the other end onto the outside of the reel. Only one complaint — the handle for turning the reel doesn’t freely spin. If you wind the cable in the “right” direction, the handle tightens and your fingers need to slip on the outside of the handle. Start the cable to wind in the wrong direction, and the handle falls off after 4-5 turns of the reel. It’s all steel, and very robust, but not light. Probably the only solution on Amazon that will work with 300-feet of RG-6 SDI cable and provide adequate protection.

The handle could be larger and the little hooks fall off very easily.Other than that it’s a great piece and price!! I have purchased 3 of them now. Great for all types of cords.
