I bought this lens for my Canon R50 since the kit lens didn’t have the reach I needed. Now, this lens is light, fairly small, sharp, but dim. In good light you will get great and sharp images ,even when fully zoomed in, but you will struggle in lower light situations. You can get around the former (to an extent) by increasing ISO and/or lowering your shutter speed. I like to take pictures of wildlife so I can’t lower my shutter too much. Still, I was able to get decent images at dawn. Are there brighter lenses out there? Sure but not at this price range nor this small and light. What about an older EF lens? Yup, it’ll probably be brighter but also heavier/bulkier and not as sharp. If you need some range, you’re on a budget, and don’t want to carry a big heavy lens, then this is a good lens to meet that need. The reason I gave this lens 4 stars is because the IS wouldn’t work when i first used it. I don’t know the reason. I took out the battery and reinstalled the lens and the IS started working. I’ll keep an eye on it and exchange it if neededPS: all the extra goodies are pretty nice. I already installed the UV filter an this lens.
