Denon AVR-S750H: very simple to set-up with incredible sound and 4k quality. Wireless and Bluetooth is seamless with multiple music options. Avoid buying cheap low end systems and get this mid-range high value high quality system with 2 year warranty. Assembled the system and integrated all speakers with 30 minutes set-up [note: speakers testing will take 15 minutes using set-up assistant]. I compared Denon vs. Yamaha system and this system simply blows away Yamaha at similar and lower end value system in terms of 4k, sound options and over all picture quality. Not sure about how long this AVR may last, but knowing it has 2 year warranty is good news. Plus, Denon App Remote Control is simply another plus if you are big on Remote App Control, also integrated well with Alexa, and all components are auto detected, including speakers, HDMI connections, Fire HD cube, etc. Well Done Denon…and Excellent Delivery by Amazon (World Wide Stereo).

After MUCH analysis and reading many reviews, my choice came between the Denon AVR-S750H 7.2 and the Denon AVR-S650H 5.2. Although the 750H is definitely overkill for my 5.1 speaker system, the slight cost differential to me was offset by the additional features and growth potential. It replaced my 11 year old Onkyo receiver which always ran hot to the touch, eventually destroying the standby feature and requiring a five to seven minute warmup to transmit HDMI video to the TV. The 750H is only SLIGHTLY warm after several hours of operation.I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND trying multiple SOUND MODES, regardless of what a TRUE AUDIOPHILE might recommend. After all, it is YOUR system, and what sounds best to you is really what matters. After much experimentation, I personally set the AUDIO INPUT MODE to AUTO and the SOUND MODE to DOLBY DIGITAL PLUS (shows up ad DD+ + D Sur on the front display) for MOVIE. The surround sound for action scenes is truly AWESOME. Based on the speaker manufacturer’s recommendation, I set the SOUND MODE for MUSIC to Multi Ch Stereo.I don’t use the ZONE 2 feature; I prefer multiple A/V systems throughout the house. I also have not yet gone to the expense of using the HEOS feature. The system is used for streaming movies 70%, music 20%, and television 10%.Although I have only had the receiver for seven weeks now, I definitely would recommend purchasing the 750H.

I bought this receiver on the basis of the Wirecutter review and have been very pleased with it. I’m using it primarily with a 2018 4k Fire TV Stick, which I use for Amazon Video, Netflix, Disney+, and YouTube. I also have it connected to a Nintendo Switch dock, Wii U, and occasionally connect a Mac via the external HDMI setup. All of these devices connect to the Denon via HDMI and from there I’ve used it with a 2013ish Samsung 1080p TV and also a 2018ish Samsung 4K TV. I have it connected to a 5.1 setup with Polk signature series speakers. My main concern was that it would be difficult to use or that I would have to juggle remotes, but for the most part everything “just works”. I can use the FireTV remote to select shows and control the volume and I generally don’t have to use the Denon remote unless I’m calibrating or configuring the system. The primary annoyance is that when I turn on the Fire TV with the remote, the Denon doesn’t turn on and instead the sound comes out the TV speakers (oddly, this only started happening when I switched TVs). It’s not a big deal, though, I can just press the pre-programmed button on the front and it will switch to the sound system.I’m not an audiophile, but the sound quality is quite good and it is definitely a huge step up from the soundbar + satellite speakers setup that I was using before. Obviously, it’s much, much better than the built-in TV speakers as well. As far as I can tell, I’m getting the best sound out of the Netflix and Disney+ apps as well. The Denon generally shows Dolby Digital or Atmos when watching movies on Disney+ and Dolby Digital on Netflix (Atmos on Netflix requires a more expensive plan that I don’t have).Setup and configuration was more or less straightforward, though the number of different digital sound formats is bewildering. I’ve tried playing around with some of the fancier formats that try to upmix your original source like DTS Neural. They seem fine, but I prefer to just leave the system alone with reasonable presets. Finally, two of the nice features of this receiver are the bluetooth transmitter and front HDMI port. The bluetooth transmitter lets it work with a set of Bluetooth headphones for private listening. It’s nice to be able to configure the headphones once instead of separately for every system. You can also have sound come from the main speakers too if you are using the bluetooth headphones for someone with hearing problem. The front HMDI port is convenient for displaying video from a computer on the home theater. We’ve used it for Zoom presentations and video games.

A very good sounding receiver with apps and self setting features, but the build quality is not up to par. phono jack broke the first time I tried to use it – it fell inside the unit.
