The red Book DAC on this SACD/CD player is the best DAC I have heard, even compared to separates. This sounds better than the DACs in my RME ADI-2 DAC FS, Burson Conductor 3 Reference and Gustard X26pro. Really impressed with this unit. It also plays SACDs flawlessly. Denon surprised me, as this component is quite heavy and well damped, the controls inspire confidence that they are solidly engineered, and operating this unit is more satisfying, both in tactile feedback and in sonic purity, than a couple of high end Sony ES SACD/CD players I have. The only knock for me is that it doesn’t have balanced XLR outputs.

If you read about how this unit is made, you will be amazed, made in Japan, and inspected by the old man, the head guy there to make sure everything is perfect. My CDs sound like SACDs on this unit, it us utterly amazing. You would have to spend $15,000 to find something as good as this.If you’re like me and don’t want that inferior streaming sound, or you don’t want to spend $20 to $30 a month for Audiophile streaming. This is the unit for you.You will not be disappointed.
