Back in my days at MIT, I spent a lot of time at neighboring Q Audio, where new digital technology was just being introduced. I remember the day the first CD player arrived and we spent hours comparing the few available CDs with the equivalent LPs, trying to see if we could easily identify which was which. Of course we could, but the question as to which one sounds “better” is one that has yet to be answered adequately. When it came to patch cords, we never noticed any differences. We could use expensive Monster Cable patches or the dime a dozen patch cords of the 1960s and could never identify which was which on A/B listening. So when it comes to these patch cables, what I want is a flexible line, which these have, well distinguished Right and Left channels (red and black here, both on the last foot of the cord and on the connectors), and an easily grasped connector, which these also have. So we’re three for three, along with silver plating on the connectors, so everything should work perfectly.Except for one thing: these are plated so well that the specification is just a hair off and the connectors require significant force to push onto the terminal. Depending upon how well the terminals are mounted, you could potentially end up pushing so hard that the backing circuit board breaks, or the solder joints connecting the terminal crack. The center conductor has a split tip – this part fits in perfectly. The outer conductor is the part where I run into trouble, particularly on newer audio equipment (older gear, where the terminal is worn down just a bit, isn’t a problem – in fact, on that gear, these cables are perfect since they make up for the wear of the terminals).Anyway, once in place these cables work as expected. I’d recommend them for permanent installations so long as you take care pushing them into place.

these wires are very well made just like everything DS18 does i like how flexible they are and the shield that is wrapped around them
