It is well made. It has clean, crisp images, just not with the scope I needed it to work with. Well within the theoretical limits of my refractor, but then it is theoretical. Had to send it back.

I’d always wanted to try an Explore Scientific eyepiece, so when ES had a sale, I took advantage of it. I currently own Morpheus, Delites, and Pentax XW, so this seemed to be the next obvious choice.The ES 4.5mm is a 52° high mag eyepiece that handles planets, moon and double stars just fine. Because the narrower field of view isn’t what I’m used to, in my untracking scope the rapid drift time requires frequent nudging, but I’m fine with this. The images are sharp (both on and off axises) and is free of any distortions. Eye relief is suitable if you don’t wear glasses, otherwise you’re better off with something more comfortable such as the eyepieces I mentioned.ES represents the best value you can get; they’re high quality, light form factor, and constructed well, while being waterproof. I’ll probably get an 82° during the next sale, but I’m pleased with this one. In a fast scope (eg
