It’s hard to get excited about a dual-HDMI wall plate. There were no problems during installation, and it is now working just fine. Looks good. I like that there are very short cables to connect to in back. I purchased another item (for the other end of this in-wall run of HDMI cables) that is a recessed box with power and a blank slot for another faceplate of my choosing. It’s black, so I purchased a different dual-HDMI faceplate (from Pyle) for that application (note to Monoprice… make a black one). The Pyle faceplate has the back-side HDMI connectors in little boxes that are attached to the back. They don’t move, and the two HDMI connector slots are on the side – which means that the HDMI cables must stick outward rather than straight back like with this monoprice item. This could be a problem (for the Pyle) in a tight installation, but it isn’t a problem for the Monoprice dual-HDMI faceplate.

Installed recently and installation was simple and went off without a hitch. Everything just worked out of the box. I was excited to see that it was an outlet and a separate wall plate, which allowed installation into a dual gang box.Worth mentioning is that the cables on the rear are very rigid and were impossible to house completely in a standard dual gang outlet box (which I used due to not having any low voltage brackets on hand). Therefore I had to cut a chunk out of the back of my box so that the rear connectors could extend back into the wall.

This works. Pretty simple. The dongles I thought would make it much easier to attach. Not really. They’re pretty stiff, so they don’t bend much. You could probably do with the standard one that just has a jack, with no cable. But, this works well enough, and the dongles perhaps made is slightly easier. All in all, great way to connect, say, an Apple TV and cable box to your wall mounted TV.

These work great and are reasonably priced. My only critiques are that they could bend a little easier inside the wall. I feel like I’m breaking them as I bend them down. Also, they could be more recessed. But they work well and are exactly what I needed.
