I tried this on my 2013 Sonata and it worked great with my new REDTIGER F7N. The videos on how to install this unit are very useful. There are 2 videos, one refers to older versions and one that refers to newer versions, you have to watch both because there is some information that doesn’t get repeated on the second video presuming you’ve seen the first. I used this for over a week and I found out that this unit kept my camera running non-stop until the battery protection was triggered which I have to say worked every time and my car was able to start even in the coldest weather so you can trust that feature. The problem is that this camera has only 2 wires and I had connected the red wire on a constant 12V which kept it running constantly and I didn’t know then that I needed a unit with 3 wires where one could be connected to Ground, 1 to a Constant 12V and the other to a 12V after key/ignition to use the Parking Monitor feature. So I learned that the choices with this unit are to either connected to constant 12V and let it run constantly until 11.9V protection is triggered or connect it to a non-constant 12 volt which will make the camera start automatically on turning the key and stop automatically on removing the key. This unit worked great I just wished it had all 3 wires.

This made adding power for a dash cam pretty simple. It’s simple to figure out which of the three fuse types you have and then you don’t need the rest of the dongles. The quick connect for the power wire makes life simple. The only things to watch out for are: 1) unlike a typical fuse, the tap will only work one when installed in one direction. You can test for the fuse to figure it out, or trial and error. But don’t assume something is broken if it doesn’t work the first time – just flip the tap around. 2) the fuse box in my car is tight. So much so that squeezing the tap into the fuse slot was not simple, and required a slight bend of the plastic around the fuse panel to achieve. 3) you need to find a ground. This usually isn’t a problem but in may fuse box in the glove compartment, there was no obvious ground and no loose brown wires to tap into. Luckily, one of the screws holding the glove compartment to the car does the job. All in all a great little kit that includes bits to make it work in lots of scenarios.

Wanted a hardwire option for my micro USB front/rear Z-Edge T4 dash cam. This did the trick. The components seem a tad on the cheaper quality side (easily broken if not cautious), but for less than $20, I won’t complain much. Its simple design did exactly what I was wanting, and that was to hardwire my dash cam and hide the wires. The trickiest part was finding a fuse that wasn’t constant and one that was ignition only, that way the dash cam would turn on automatically once the engine is started, and turn off once the engine stops. Using a constant fuse will require you to turn the dash cam on/off manually each time you get in/out of your vehicle, as power is constantly being supplied, possibly draining your vehicle’s battery in the process. I don’t like the idea of the “voltage meter” that’s supplied with this kit, which is supposed to stop the flow of electricity to the camera once your vehicle’s battery drops below 11.9V.. My camera has a built-in battery for parking mode, so there is no need to have continuous power supplied, and no worries about my vehicle’s battery getting drained from a potential faulty voltage sensor. After using a voltage tester to determine which fuse was an ignition only fuse, I ended up tapping into the heated steering wheel fuse, which works perfect. Camera turns on when I start the engine, and off when I stop it. No more ugly wires!!Also, I have seen some people complain about their dash cam shutting off and it losing power if you have an “auto stop/start” feature on your engine (like at an intersection). Personally I had no issue after the engine being shutting off for over two minutes in my 2021 GMC Sierra 1500. Camera stayed powered the entire time, even after the engine turning over again. Love this kit!!

Bought this for a backup camera (auto-vox). Had installed at best buy. This wire kit was needed in order to hook camera directly to your car battery and bypass the cigarette lighter/power . The reason you’d want to connect to your car battery is two reasons (1 – doesn’t tie up your car power port or make you buy an double power port option and 2 – only this hooking up to battery option allows the forward camera to record when car is off for burglars/vandalism events – if hooked up to car cigarette port then that usually only has power when car is on – as was my van’s case). Fit honda odyssey & CRV just fine.Another tip if using the katabar wire – use an empty car fuse slot – do not piggy back with the Katabar wire as it blew the fuse for me on automatic seat. When put by itself worked fine. Meaning this kit plugs into a car fuse slot and allows you to put an existing fuse in it’s extender – but that’s when my fuse blew – so picking an empty slot worked. Here is the katabar wire description that Amazon had for sale that I bought. I bought 2 and one had a defective micro to mini adapter and had to buy another adapter to make it work (which Amazon helped with) – the vendor also sent me a wire replacement that went direct to mini USB but it arrived too late to swap out. If the other adapter ever fails I’ll have it as a backup – vendor did respond and sent part to fix if needed:MicroUSB & MiniUSB Hardwire Kit with Mini/LP Mini/ATO/Micro2 Fuse, Micro to Mini (and Type-C) Port Adapters, Battery Drain Protection System, 15ft Length Cord for Dash Cameras

I am using this over a year now with no problems. It’s easy to install as cable length is good enough to run under panels and with proper installation no more wires mess in the car. It’s come with different fuse inserts that perfectly fits in fuse box. You just need to figure out correct inlet to insert it. I recommend this product for neat and clean installation of your dash cam.
