About this item
- The PCF8591 is a monolithically integrated, single-supply, low-power, 8-bit CMOS data acquisition device.
- The PCF8591 has 4 analog inputs, 1 analog output, and 1 serial I2C bus interface.
- The three address pins A0, A1, and A2 of the PCF8591 can be used for hardware address programming, allowing access to eight PCF8591 devices on the same I2C bus without additional hardware.
- The address, control, and data signals that are input and output on the PCF8591 device are transmitted serially over the two-wire bidirectional I2C bus.
- Single power supply, PCF8591 operating voltage range 2.5V-6V.

This is a YL-40 module with a PCF8591 ADC converter on it. I used a Raspberry Pi 4 to communicate with the module over I2C bus.Using included “suitcase jumpers”, on-board sensors can be connected to ADC inputs.Jumper P4 connects thermistor to AIN1.Jumper P5 connects light sensor to AIN0.Jumper P6 connects potentiometer to AIN3.Due to PCB error (no electrical contact or trace found), you need to solder a wire from other side of thermistor R6 to GND if you want to use the thermistor. (Both of my boards have this issue and others have reported problem online). If you just want to use the ADC/DAC, the 4 analog inputs and 1 analog output work fine. The potentiometer and light sensor work fine.
